Georgia Mountain Fair “A Trip Down Memory Lane”
Visiting the Georgia Mountain Fair in Hiawassee Georgia is not just fun, it’s a family tradition for us. As a child, I can remember being so excited about our yearly trips! Of course back in the day, it was all about the carnival rides and cotton candy just to name a few things! I was always leaving with prizes won by my father playing games. Can you just smell it now? Funnel cakes, candy apples and fun!
If you have never visited the Georgia Mountain Fair I would highly recommend putting it on your mountain getaway ‘to do’ list! I gathered up some of my best images from our trip last July and put them all in a slide slow below for y’all to enjoy. Take a trip back in time with me! ⤵️
Parking is convenient and free! There is a fun tractor shuttle you can wait for to get a ride down to the bottom entry way if you choose not to take the stairs down from the parking lot. Admission is 12.00 per adult and 12 years and under get in free. The fairgrounds are included but of course rides costs are separately. But you’ll have to leave Fido at home as no pets are allowed. Fun Fair Passes are available also!
First you’ll see endless arts & craft booths full of unique one of a kind items to buy! Many talented artists there and you’ll meet some new friends along the way too! You’ll then walk into a ‘pioneer village’ as if you stepped back in time! From authentic demonstrations at the old saw mill to the village blacksmith creating beautiful items for you to purchase! The old country store is one of my favorites. As you wind around the village, you’ll see the pond and water fountain feature. A breath taking site and plenty benches to sit and relax while listening to the falling water. Take a scroll through the Bud Parker Antique Farm Museum where you’ll find so many treasures that will take you back in time, from can goods to homemade quilts and antique farm equipment.
We really enjoyed the K-9 Frisbee Dog Show! The shows run daily with a schedule and a place to sit. We were allowed to meet the dogs and pet them.
Enjoy all the awesome fun adventures while admiring beautiful Lake Chatuge which is right beside the fairgrounds! Incredible views, especially if you decide to ride the sky buckets at sunset!
Anderson Music Hall, located at the fairgrounds, has a full line up of concerts during the fair! You can view the entire schedule of events by visiting here → Georgia Mountain Fair Events
